What you need to find out is if your system is 32 bit or 64 bit. 32 bit can only support up to 4gb of RAM where as with the 64 bit you can support more. Now this is info I got from https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c06945606 I'm a little confused myself, because they generally don't make 32 bit machines anymore, unless there a specific reason for it to be designed that way why ugh I can't figure it should be at least upgradeable to 64 bit, which equals out to a new OS install and and new drivers. So something to check into all the info I have I got from the HP website.
