If it were plugged into a wall outlet and shined onto a ceiling, it creates a picture onto the ceiling that's a foot or so in diameter. It works well as a nightlight and the "globe" can be pointed in any position with an arch of movement whether up or down or on a surface parallel from where it's plugged into.
