“Why does the sound bar need to be turned on every time you want to use it? Why does the volume level drop down when you turn it on? I just want to use the TVs variable audio outputs for volume control and never touch the sound bar. Is there a fix?”

Try "teaching" your TV remote the "power" button from the soundbar remote. I haven't tried that yet but it should work because the volume adjustments do work. I too have been turning this Soundbar off and on. The instructions are in the little manual that came with the soundbar. Have to do each button separately.
