You can use a single rca plugged cable. I did the same until I purchased the y cable. However, sound throughput seems better with y cable than with single.

Please try again later.Run a single, high quality cable to the LFE input on the subwoofer - It a LFE port does not exist you can run a single cable to either the Right or Left port OR you can acquire a high quality Y-Cable and connect the "Y" cable to the Right and Left ports - Some say that using the Y Cable pushes a little more power and also helps mitigate any slight cut out at lower volumes - I run a dual Polk Audio PSW108 configuration this way and love it...
