“Have a older Samsung T.V. and Blue Ray disc player. No available HDMI ports and none that say ARC. 2 questions will just optical cord work?? And can i run the HDMI cable through my Samsung blue ray disc player???? Thank You.”

Yes the optical cord by itself will work just fine.
