“I'm currently running a receiver with 2 large bookshelf speakers for music only. What are the thoughts about adding this center speaker? Would it make anything better or worse? I really don't need a full surround.”

I have a decent set of Polk speakers for a 5.1 surround system. I added this to replace the small center channel and add some sound and the difference is noticeable. I have loved this speaker and am now planning on probably getting two more to hang vertically for my front speakers. Even without you needing a full surround I don't think you will be disappointed if you get it.

That said it is really intended primarily as a dialogue speaker in a surround sound speaker system. This is the kind of system that I have.. It really has improved my music listening but if I you I might consider upgrading my speakers and or amplifier. This really is on of the best speakers for the center channel in a surround sound system
