This speaker can only play down to 53hz. Although it has a good amount of bass and kick, it will not replace a subwoofer or even some tower speakers, which can rumble down to 20hz if you get the right one.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I think the s35 has a O.K. amount of bass but I would say you do need a sub woofer.

The Base on nearly ALL center channels will NOT produce the deep effect that a sub will produce. My set up is a Polk S35, S20s (fronts) and S10s (rears) with an older DefTech sub and it is BEAUTIFUL compared to a previous Bose setup (center with V301s fronts, 161 rears). The other trick is to get a Receiver where you can adjust the Crossover frequency and be sure to set all these types of speakers to SMALL in the sound settings of your Receiver (if you don't get a roughly $250+ receiver, you won't have these settings!). Good luck.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. No subwoofer is needed. It's best to have subwoofer by itself According to type of receiver you have
