“does this make calls from the ear piece or do you have use the phone”

• You need the phone to make calls. they have to be synched together.

• There is a talk button that allows you to speak into the mic and dial. "hey google/hey siri"

• Hello! if your phone supports Phone Book Access Profile (PBAP), once the headset pairs to your phone, it will ask you for permission to access your list of contacts saved in your phone, therefore you should be able to call any of your contacts through the earpiece by pressing the call button for 2 seconds or until you hear a tone.
