NO! It's a MOUNT not a GPS! But...in case you are asking about the GPS that the mount holds, no it doesn't auto-update either. It will remind you when it hasn't been updated in a while. To update it, you have to connect it to your PC, go to the Garmin website, register it and then get your updates. It is easier than it sounds, but it can sometimes take some time to get it done. that's because it sometimes has to handle a lot of data but--think about it--it is important and it's a huge convenience when it is up to date.
