• It is attached with a screw that goes through the base and the "swivel mechanism" and into the bottom of the tower.

• Particle board does not like heavy weight, use steel to hold 1000 pounds. One screw to attach the lazy Susan.

• Actually, YOU install the turntable with screws during assembly. Mine has the factory included device and it has been totally reliable. Unless you are going to put something incredibly heavy in it you shouldn't need to change it.
