Dave Thank you for your interest in our Rapid Strike Dumbbell set. Yes, the length of the dumbbell will increase as more weight is added. The pin that you see in the top of the dumbbell is adjusted depending on the amount of weight the user wants, as the pin moves to the further weights making the dumbbell heavier, the length will increase.
