I measured the pedal to the stationary handlebars and 5 feet is more than sufficient to reach them. There is another set of handlebars that moves your arms back and forth and this is below the stationary handlebars. They are both well within your reach. The pedals are big but they are stationary meaning that where you put your foot is where your foot is going to stay. It's not going to flop or move from one side to the other. I like the pedals because they give you a range of motion to choose from. It all depends on where you are comfortable putting your feet. Like, the pedal is big enough so that you can put your foot way ahead of the other foot and this will increase your range of motion. Or you can place your feet as close as possible to each other and this gives you another option. These pedals grip shoes pretty good. The machine is pretty sturdy and in my opinion, your height is no problem whatsoever. If you have any other questions, please don't hesitate to ask. I'm glad to be of help.
