• The grill you see sets on the bottom as a spacer for the wood from the bottom of the bowl. There are tabs at the top to hold a grilling surface you can find at any box store for a few dollars.

• The grill is to hold the fire wood you are going to burn. You could use skewers to roast marshmallows or hotdogs over the fire though.

• The grate you see is to hold the wood for the fire. It is not designed to grill food and the instructions warn against doing so.

• Yes you can if you purchase a grilling insert separately. Can be found cheaply at an box store. Pit has tabs to hold the grilling surface.
