This unit should only require a warm water rinse every few days in the tank and the base will need to be cleaned once a week with white vinegar and the provided cleaning brush. You cannot put any part of the unit in the dishwasher. There is a filter available that can help to reduce or eliminate white dust from the minerals in your water. The part number for the filter is FLTDC20.
