I agree with you--printed instructions for cleaning are bogus. I went out to YouTube and found several helpful videos. Most use vinegar and water to clean both the tank and the lower unit. One recommended using "cleaning vinegar" which I believe is a 20% acidic solution and water maybe 1 cup of each. Shake them around and let sit for awhile. Others used the more typical 5% acidic solution full strength to clean both the upper and lower tanks. If you need to disinfect another video recommended using 1 tbsp of bleach plus 1 quart of water. Let it sit in the unit for 20 to 30 minute. All videos said to rinse out the units with water to get rid of any vinegar or bleach odors.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. You are not filling the tank with the vinegar water mixture, you are using this mixture over the ultrasonic disc in the base. You do not have to use such a small amount. as long as the mixture is 50/50 you can use as much water and vinegar needed to clean the unit.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. It doesn’t make any sense.
