No Microsoft uses a proprietary connection for the mic. There is an offical xbox adapter for this.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.My son uses his on his xbox one just fine. If you haven't already, I would make sure the Mic is all the way in. There is also a switch on the side of the headset that turns the Mic on and off. I would check that as well. Have you tried multiple games? It might be a setting on the game. If none of that works, you might have a bad Mic.
