“Can the USB type c connector stretch out to plug into my phone with a cover case? The case is a little thick and I'm worried the connector on this controller might not reach all the way.”

You have to remove the rubber on the controller around where the phone sits. They can be pulled out, but it's a little tough. I have a Galaxy S21 with a Spigen Tough Armor case and it works for me. I did scrape a little material off the case where the charger is still nice the connection was unstable but after I did that it's worked without any issues.
