You are right of course. In this case, "Air Tight" refers to the fact that there is no air gap between the laptop and the cooling pad -- any air from the fan has to go to the laptop and cannot escape around the bottom of the laptop. I own this cooling pad and it does a great job.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.the foam seal does a great job. the point is to push the air through the bottom up through the keys and out the sides. cools my laptops by at least 10c at full load. hope that helps. also the seal helps with noise from the fan. its expensive but a solid investment.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. After forming a seal between the bottom of the laptop and the cooling pad, the fan inside the cooling pad forces air through the air intake that is on the bottom of "most" modern laptops, then expelling it through the sides and rear of the laptop. Some laptops such as the 2020 Macbook Air does not have fans or a bottom intake grille. In the case of your laptop not having a bottom intake fan, this device probably won't do a whole lot to cool it. Otherwise this works great on "most" laptops. See the photo I attached of the bottom of my laptop for an example of a laptop with a bottom intake.
