You're not able to add notes to a payment after it’s been processed. However, you can add optional notes to items or custom amounts during the checkout process (https://squ.re/4d3rf5Z). You can then export your transaction history from the Square Dashboard, and any notes added during a sale will be included in the report (https://squ.re/4a0iQOH).
