It will accommodate both. The cable is USB and plugs into a cigarette lighter power adapter if you do not have an available USB slot. So, if no USB, then plug in the adapter into the cig lighter port, the cable plugs into the top of the adapter and the other end to the camera. Hope this helps.

Please try again later.You can connect to the 12 volt auxiliary port as it comes with the wire/adapter for it but when you power it that way you won’t be able to take advantage of the g sensor which you will want to as it will trigger the cam to record when something hits your car. Let’s say you have it parked in a parking lot or overnight and something hits it. With this cam I highly recommend you have best buy install it for you for $107 (tax included) you need to buy the hardwire kit from Amazon for like $20. Best Buy then installs it connecting it to your cars main power source so that the g sensor then works when needed. Also they do such a good job you won’t see any wires. Trust me you will be much happier. Will look neater and if you are married will please the wife. Happy wife happy life as they say.
