Hi Jack, Marker Plus doesn't wear and tear easily, but the Marker tips wear out with use. Just like a traditional pencil, you'll need to swap out a blunt tip for a fresh one. Every Marker Plus comes packaged with 9 spare tips. The durability of your tip depends on your writing technique, how much pressure you apply when taking notes, and how often you use your paper tablet. Our best estimate for a person who writes on their reMarkable every day is between three and seven weeks. While the tip does wear down slowly over time, you'll still be able to write and use it right up until the tip can no longer connect with the display. /Jennifer
