Hello! No. The hardwire kit is simply an accessories that allows for extra functionalities. For a normal setup, all you will need will be included in the box.

If you want Parking Monitor mode, yes. Buy the $30 hardwired kit from BB. If you want Parking Monitor AND GPS features, you need to order the $40 harness (w/GPS antenna) directly from Rexing. I received mine in 3 short days. I now have Parking Monitor with GPS speed/location data. I would've gladly paid an extra $40, upfront, to have it included. Now I have a clean install plus the use of my cigarette lighter port for phone chargers.
