No, the device does not stay on 24/7. with a hardwire kit, you can use the parking mode feature which will turn the device on when it detects vibrations while the car is parked and off.

Please try again later.you will need to hardwire the camera with a cable you can get for like $15 bucks but it only records with the front camera (as far as i know even the more expensive ones) so i don't use it i just use it for insurance purposes like this one: https://youtu.be/bm68_PcPqIo
