• It depends on your vehicle. It plugs into your 12v power outlet and with most "cars" the power outlet is turned off when the car is turned off. For most trucks and some American manufactured cars, the 12v power outlet is powered all the time regardless if it is running or not. This dash cam does not have built in batteries.

• One factor will depend on how you wire it in. If you connect the power source/fuse to one that is constant, even when the car is off then I dont see why not.
