“Hi, do I need to pay a ring plan in order to use this sensor?, I'm only getting it to pair it with my Astro robot so when someone opens the door Astro can go to the front door , I'm not using it as a security function since I have my alarm provider.”

No you don't. The storage space is what cost money.

Ring Alarm and all Ring Alarm accessories require a subscription for in-app features and digital notifications, including digital arming and disarming and integration with other Ring, Echo, Alexa, and third-party products.
