We did, but you don't have to have it if you carry your phone with you. I don't carry my phone around the house with me, so the chime is important to me.

Hi nk. Good question. No, a Ring Chime is not required for the Ring Battery Doorbell Plus. The Ring Battery Doorbell Plus can be installed with or without an existing doorbell system. If you do not have an existing doorbell system, a Ring Chime can be purchased and connected through the Ring app, and you'll be able to get real-time Ring device notifications anywhere in your home, even if you're not near your phone.
