Hi zinya. Thank you for your question today! Your current placement of 9" and 12" away from the door should not be a problem as long as the doorbell is at the recommended height. For the best performance, doorbells should be mounted 48 inches (1.22 meters) from the ground. The camera on your Ring doorbell has a wide field of view and does not need to be mounted higher or lower to view approaching visitors. If mounted too high or too low, you may encounter inconsistent motion detection or undesired motion events.
