Thank you for your question today! The Ring Chime requires two things to function. First, is a connection to power, the Ring Chime plugs into standard power outlet plug adapters: US, CA, UK, EU, & ANZ (depending on destination country). Second, a connection to a wifi network, the Ring Chime can connect to 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac dual-band wifi connection @ 2.4GHz or 5GHz. If the Nest 1st gen wifi router produces a 2.4 or 5ghz wifi network the Ring Chime should connect to it.
