• None of the Ring alarm accessories work without the base station. You can use the other Ring products without it, but must have the base station for the alarm system. The alarm accessories work off z-wave instead of wifi, which is how they communicate with the base station. The video cameras work off wifi.

• Im pretty sure the ring base station is required since that is where the sound comes out and lets you know that the door is opened
