Yes, you have the option to turn it on and off.

You could completely turn off recording by turning down switch from your home, like turning off light.... or 2nd option is it will record but you could put on the application you want to turn off motion notifications for 15 min 30 min or 1 hour so it doesnt bombard you with alerts on ur phone every minute....its super easy!!!!
