“Since these are cameras & battery powered do you have to have your exterior flood lights or porch light on for it to record? I don't know if it has any type of self illumination. I live in a condo & can't have the large 2 floodlight with camera option.”

Hi Stuetoo, Great question. Your Floodlight Cam lights will turn on when motion is detected, however, you do have the option to manually turn your Floodlight Cam lights off and on through the Ring App. Additionally, our Floodlight Cam has a Night Vision feature which enables you to be able to see activity that is occurring at night without the lights on. The problem is if you install the spot light security camera near a light color wall, the light floor and reflect into the camera and resulted with a very poor over expose image.

You can adjust the area that the unit will cover and the sensitivity to movement within the area. The camera records in low light and also when the unit's light is activated. In addition, you can go to "live view" and see what is going on even if the unit is not triggered. You can also talk through the unit or trigger a very loud alarm if you want.
