“Can the spotlight cam be wire direct to 12 gauge wire with wire nuts. I have flood lights already on the outside of the house wired to 12 gauge wire with wire nuts. O r do I need to install a ground fault outlet in the old flood light box.”

Yes it can if you cut off the factory three prong cord leaving just a few inches. You should get the ring duel spotlight cam that can mount to any standard outside fixture box. The wires of the spotlight cam are already in the configuration you desire.
