• Hi Eddie, Thanks for contacting me. The Wire for our Spotlight Cam Wired is used to keep your Spotlight Cam powered. • Yes it connects through WiFi. It will be best to set next to router for initial setup to make sure all works well. Then make sure app is on you phone. Then when you open app you can ADD device. It works really well. Then play with it to make sure it detects everything, or what you choose as far as motion zones. Happy shopping.
