Hello, Mike! Excellent question! This particular Ring doorbell does allow for you to hard-wire it to your home's existing doorbell wiring, which will allow for your internal chime kit to sound-off when someone rings the doorbell button. A Ring Chime will be required for audio notifications around your home when you are not near your mobile device, if you do not have a doorbell transformer rated 8–24 VAC, 40VA max, 50/60Hz.
