Hi Vicka. Thank you for asking! Yes, the Ring app is needed for Ring devices and can be downloaded on iOS 14 and above. The Ring Video Doorbell 3 should be fully charged and connected to your home's wifi prior to installation. It requires an 802.11 a/b/g/n wifi connection at 2.4 GHz or 5 GHz. Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I have a I phone and use my house doorbell or house chime. You have to go into setting on ring and if your house is wired for old bell you don't need to charge the ring. I use both wire and not wired .
