“i followed wiring instructions connecting the doorbell wirs to the ring bell appliance and reconfigured the chime wires. it does not ring and does not comnnect with alexa. do i need something else”

In order to configure your Ring Video Doorbell 4 to ring your internal chime and connect to your Alexa-enabled devices, you must first set it up in the Ring app. To set up your Ring Video Doorbell 4 in the Ring app, open the app and tap "Set Up a Device," then select "Doorbells." Follow the step-by-step instructions provided to connect your Ring Video Doorbell 4. Once your doorbell is set up, you can connect it to your compatible Alexa-enabled devices. First, you’ll need to download the Alexa app on your mobile device or tablet. Then you will add Ring as a skill in the Alexa app and follow the prompts to discover and connect your Ring device.
