“My existing doorbell has a wireless connection, the bell is hard wired with a plug in device inside. Does this ring give a chime when pressed? If I am home I would I be notified someone is at the door?”

Yes you will be notified if someone rings the doorbell while you are home. Yes if hardwired the doorbell will ring the hardwired chime if it's compatible. Check the ring website for compatibility chart.
