A:Answer Yes - the sun causes my ring to alert me to motion, especially when it disappears and reappears around the wooden railing I have on my front porch deck. It also alerts if it suddenly gets brighter or dimmer due to a cloud. The good news is that you can set motion alert zones, so if you find one problematic area you can eliminate it from setting a motion alert off. Also I live in Alaska and the sun doesn't exactly go "overhead" it's almost almost always seems to be at eye level.
The ring camera will adjust itself based on how much light there is, so you will still get a video of what is going on. I also notice there are different levels of motion alerts as I get an orange motion detected, a blue/stronger motion detected, and if the button is pushed for a doorbell, you get a "Someone is at your door" alert. Overall, I really like it - I do wish there was a way to hard wire the video feed to my router and store videos locally, rather than WiFI and on the cloud. I have other wired cameras for that purpose though. Hope this helps.
