“My front door way entrance is only 4'10" wide, and my present door bell faces sideways (not outward where a visitor would approach). There is no way to mount it facing outward. Is there a way to mount it to be effective?”

Yes, you can use the bracket that comes along with the ring doorbell. With the bracket you can adjust the angle according to your preference.
