Yes, it does require a wi-fi internet connection because you are viewing the camera from your phone, tablet etc.

Yes. You can attempt to use a dedicated hotspot like a Verizon Jetpack and even get a strong download and upload but even after all that, they say the router "hotspot" must be VERY close to the doorbell. If you have a typical setup from like a cable company that is "wired" then you are fine. If not, the two-conversation is patchy

Not only the internet, but you must have a strong WIFI signal as well.
