Well it has People only mode and then in my opinion annoying mode.. Which is anything that is NOT just people. The older units had a better way of adjusting the range i feel. But the newer one you can set a bounding box around the zone it watches (6-8 point bounding box, or motion detect zones). If you don't set it to People only it will notify you of cars driving by.. ours did. I set it to the far left ad voilá silence and it only alerted me to people. The range setting isn't perfect but i was able to adjust ours enough to get it to where i was able to cut down all the false positives. Best advice is you will need to play with that setting to find out what works best for your setup, but our was People Only (far left) and that worked like a charm.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. You can very easily change the sensitivity and the area where motion is detected from the app you download on your mobile device. And the area of sensitivity can be asymmetrical...it doesn’t have to be a square box. I was able to easily exclude landscaping near my front walk that sways in the breeze causing “false alarms.”

Additionally, Ring Pro has customizable motion detection zones. Thanks, Kaitlyn R., Customer Satisfaction Specialist [email protected]
