A:AnswerNope you can use the ring without Alexa. The smart phone app shows you the camera view on the app, you can also set the app to open the camera view immediately when something is detected in front of the ring doorbell.
IF you have the alexa units such as the echo spot or show, you can add the Ring skill to alexa and then login to the Ring skill on the alexa app. Once configured and the device scan is complete you should be able to tell alexa show me the front door (assuming this is what you call it) and it pops up on the screen.
