• You can certainly mount it horizontally, BUT there is no configuration to rotate the video image, so you will always be looking at video 90 degrees off one way or the other.

• You can install this hardware horizontally if you wish but, in order to see the full picture and at the correct degree, you will have to hold your cell phone level or tabletop at all times. It's worth the trouble if you have a vertical entrance.

• According to Ring customer support, it can be mounted vertically if the mounting box is horizontal - but if you mount the ring unit itself horizontally the video cannot be rotated in software.

• Sometimes you have to make what the engineers failed to consider. This version used a wood gang box blank. You could also use an ETN switch cover so you can use the switch hole to pass the wires through, then mount the doorbell directly over the switch hole. If you're worried about someone stealing it, use Torx security screws for mount plate. Enjoy. JWM

• Yes, you should be able to install this horizontally. Make sure the two wires from your existing doorbell have enough slack and you'll be fine.
