Hi Tim, Your Ring Video Doorbell (2020 Release) is designed to notify you of a motion event or doorbell ding within the parameters you have set within your Ring App. If you would like the event to be recorded, we offer a Ring Protect Plan which stores all video and snapshot events to the cloud for up to 60 days (in the US). The Ring Protect Plan has a few payment options to best suit your needs, and can be found on our website at Ring.com: https://ring.com/protect-plans. We are always happy to answer any questions and concerns directly, as well as offer a platform for our customers' voices to be heard on our Ring Community platform. We would like to invite you to open discussions with other customers like yourself to help improve the overall Ring experience: https://community.ring.com/. All the Best, Caitlin with Ring
