I have a very small front porch Sometimes rain blows up to the position of my Ring doorbell. It has not affected the video quality or ring performance. I have just the Ring doorbell. I set it for the chimes sound. When anyone or anything walks by / comes to the door, the chimes go off to let them know they have been spotted/recorded. And they also go off on my cellphone to alert me to check my video.

It can withstand outdoor use and contact with water under certain conditions. However, it is not intended for underwater use and may experience temporary effects from exposure to water. The Ring Video Doorbell (2nd Generation) can be installed with or without an existing chime kit. If you do not have an existing chime kit, you can pair it with a Ring Chime or a compatible Alexa-enabled device to hear notifications inside your home. We invite you to reach out to our Community if any additional information is needed regarding your question.
