“Does old wired doorbell function operate independently from digital setup or if setup ( by owner ) is problematic Basically, should pushing the Ring button make the original chime ring as before installation. Thanks”

If wired using the Ring installation instructions (what I did) the existing hard wired bell no longer rings. I purchased the Chime which rings in place of the old bell. The hard wired installation keeps the Ring energized so you don't have to periodically recharge the battery.

It will ring your internal chime kit if it is set up in the Ring app and is connected to the appropriate chime type: mechanical chime or digital chime.
