You can wire it to your existing doorbell wires. Some units require a larger 40VA 16 or 24 volt transformer. It will not ring your chime. You can purchase a wireless ring chime. I've installed 4 of these systems as an electrician.

The Ring Video Doorbell Wired must be hardwired to an existing doorbell system or transformer with 10–24 VAC, 40 VA max, and 50–60 Hz for continuous charging. Video Doorbell Wired does not sound your existing doorbell chime.
