Hi Zaik. Good question. No, you do not need a wall plate to install the Ring Video Doorbell Wired. The Ring Video Doorbell Wired is designed to be installed directly on the wall. On stucco, brick, or concrete, use a 1/4" (6mm) masonry bit to drill holes in your wall, then insert the included wall anchors. If you're installing it on wood or siding, you can skip this step. We ended up returning ours as it was too diffucult to install and the instructions were not clear ir detailed enough. My wife and I spent well over an hour just trying to remove the face cover of the camera so that we could mount it. After searching for videos or instructions online, we took it back to BestBuy. Good luck.
