I am not completely sure, but I think it will play in 4K after you download an update for the game. I don't think that you need to buy a separate copy. A standalone version of the game in 4K doesn't exist, you just need to buy the game and download the update on your Xbox.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I know that some of the earlier copies of Tomb Raider and other Microsoft games aren't "¿2160p?" updated.... On the top right hand corner of the physical games; the ones that were made after "¿2160p?" updates shall say that they ARE AND ARE COMPATIBLE WITH "¿enhanced?" AND "¿4K?" AND "¿HDR?" Run an internet search for "¿4k version of tomb raider on xbox?" and look at images of the physical Tomb Raider CD box and you shall see what I am talking about..... I am not sure about how you would know for digital games though....Personally I would just buy the physical game with the "¿enhanced?" AND "¿4K?" AND "¿HDR?" on it... Hope that helps.......

Your system will automatically support the 4K version since you have the X over the S as long as you have the system display settings set to 4K (easy to do). To change the display settings, go to settings then display, then change it to 4K if it isn't already. To see the difference in a game as you are playing it: simply check the options menu in a game and change the settings to see the difference. For instance, in the Witcher 3, you can choose Performance mode or 4K mode. In Rise of the Tomb Raider, you can choose 4K mode, Enhanced Mode, or Performance mode. Most games will have some sort of options like this where you can see the differences in the Options or Advanced options menu within the game.
