you don't "hook up" to the speakers, it's a 're-transmitter'. it will pair with your cell, just like regular bluetooth, then send the signal to a radio station [FM RF], which you select. you then listen to the call from your car speakers. if you have an open air 'hotrod', you may have difficulty using this due to road noise, wind. no "app" was needed.

Your FM radio then drives sound to your speakers. So, the Bracketron Car FM Bluetooth Trans Blk requires power via the 12 Volt plug, and a working FM radio connected to speakers. With all of that in place, you can then play music (Spotify, Amazon Music, Sirius, Pandora) via the apps on your cellphone.
